Joan Greene

Joan Greene age 84 of Colchester, passed away at her home in Colchester at 8:30 A.M. Monday, May 9, 2016, with her family at her side. She was born March 9, 1932, in Tennessee, Illinois to Edward and Grace Elizabeth Gallaher Black. Joan was united in marriage on December 1, 1951, in Rushville, Illinois, to Maurice Greene.
Surviving to mourn her passing are her husband of 64 years, Maurice of Colchester, 2 Daughters: Janet and Greg Kent, Tennessee, Illinois, Linda Greene of Colchester, 1 Granddaughter: Briana Nolden, Los Angeles, California.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents and 1 infant sister: Helen Black.
Joan was a member of the Colchester Rebekah Lodge, Hancock County Home Extension, Crooked Creek Special Club. She was a Homemaker, avid gardener and flower arranger, Girl Scout Leader, and Colchester Election Judge for many years. She loved to cook and was great at it. Most of all she was a loving wife, mother and grandma along with a friend to many.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 14, 2016, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Rev. Dean Reeverts. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services Saturday at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester. Memorials are to Colchester Rescue Squad or Hillsgrove United Methodist Church.
