W. Earl Sims

W. Earl Sims, age 83 of Macomb, passed away at Lamoine Assisted Living on September 21, 2023. Earl was born on August 14, 1940, in Macomb to William F. and Vada W. (DeGarmo) Sims. They preceded him in death. He married his high school sweetheart, Gerry (Allison) on September 1, 1961, in Colchester, she survives. Also surviving are two children, Scott (Renee) Sims of Macomb and Christy Sims of Rushville; two grandchildren, Rebecca (Dustin) Eick of Bondurant, IA and Lauren Sims (Tom Grevan) of Chicago, and a great granddaughter, Neelie Eick, along with two brothers; Dennis (Rosemary) Sims and Bayne (Joyce) Sims, both of Macomb.

Over the years Earl worked at Bader Grain Elevator, King Feed, owned/operated Sims Trucking, and lastly Western Illinois Grain where he retired. He was a member of the Macomb Masonic Lodge. He served on the McDonough County Board from 2002-2018. Earl enjoyed fishing, Cubs baseball, the slots, and never passed up the opportunity to tease someone.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Diana Trout.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester, with Rev. Jim Clayton.  Burial will follow the services at Archer Bethel Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at the funeral home.  Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home after 8:30 A.M. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to the Archer-Bethel Cemetery in Fandon or McDonough District Hospital Home Health.
