Vickie M. Whitaker age 54 of Colchester, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at her home in Colchester with her family at her side. She was born May 28, 1968, in Macomb, to Henry and Mary Palmer Frakes. Vickie was united in marriage September 7, 1988, in Keokuk, Iowa, to Kyle T. Whitaker. He preceded her in death on April 23, 2022.
Surviving to mourn her passing are 4 children: Sidney Thrapp (Page Keene), Colchester, Bryant Whitaker (Kelsey), Macomb, Alicia Whitaker (Aaron Shanty), Colchester, Matthew Whitaker (Kat Lebeck) Blandinsville,
9 grandchildren: Faxon, Elsie, Cheyenne, Olivia, Mira, Cydni, Auslynn, Ashe, Rosa, 1 sister: Misty (Brad) Hotto, Havana, 2 brothers: Greg (Gena) Frakes, Industry, Lonnie (Billie) Frakes, Macomb, her step father: Sidney Schoonover, Colchester, and her fur baby: Diva, along with several nieces, and nephews.
Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 2 sisters: Laurie Cox and Tory Frakes
Vickie started with Sodexo at Western Illinois University in 1988. All of the people she worked with at Sodexo became her extended family. She really loved and took under her wings many of the student employees.
She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, going to the casino, taking Sunday drives thru the country with her family, and telling family stories. Being with her grandchildren and family was her greatest love.
Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 1, 2022, at Irwin Cemetery in Plymouth, with Pastor Jason Hamm. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday, July 31, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home after 8:30 A.M. Sunday. Memorial is to the McDonough County Animal Shelter.
