Velva June Beal, age 83, of Macomb, Illinois, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 10, 2024. Velva was born June 19, 1940, in Ulvah, Kentucky to Vernis and Eva (Campbell) Back.
Velva June attended Appalachian Bible College, and after graduation, she was a missionary in Southeastern Kentucky. During this time, she met a charming young pastor, and after a short courtship, they were married on October 1, 1965. Together they ministered to people in Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, and Ohio over their 47 years of marriage. Velva June was a member of First Baptist Church of Colchester, Illinois. Some of her favorite hobbies were crocheting doilies and working puzzles.
Velva June is survived by her son, David (Shelly) Beal; grandsons, Matthew (Alyson) Beal, and Jordan Beal; sisters, Lorene Parrish, and Lois (Bob) Marchiny; brother, Paul (Christine) Back; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband Alan; brother, Lundy Back; sister, Doylene Adams; and other dear brothers and sisters-in-law.
The family wishes to thank the cousins and church family in Illinois that made her later years so meaningful, with special thanks to Karen Peters and Susan Fairchild for all the care and Sunday dinners. They would also like to thank the amazing staff at Fox Run Manor for their care during her final weeks.
Graveside Service will be 3:30 P.M. Monday, February 26, 2024, at Mt. Auburn Cemetery with Rev. Caleb Sparrow. Jones Mortuary in Colchester is handling local arrangements.
