Steven Waddell Obituary

Steven “Pat” Waddell, 67 of rural Plymouth passed away at 10:16 A.M. Sunday, December 9, 2018, at 6089 Waddell Road, Plymouth. He was born on May 3, 1951, in Macomb to Lyman and Ruby (Martin) Waddell.
Pat is survived by his two daughters: Nicole (Chris) Travis of Vermont and Patti Waddell of Jacksonville; three grandchildren: Patrick Waddell of Dallas, TX, Caroline Dobbs and Charles Dobbs of Vermont; four bonus grandchildren: Brittany Dobbs of Springfield, Alyssa Travis, Briana Travis, and Caitlyn Travis of Litchfield; three bonus great grandchildren; four sisters: Jane Axtell of Macomb, Colene Henderson of Springfield, Marlene (Kem) Moore of Yates City and Kay (Jerry) Doggett of Loveland, CO: four brothers: Bud (Barb) Waddell of Fallbrook, CA, Bob (Edie) Sullivan of Prairie City, Stanley Sullivan of El Dorado Hills, CA, Harry (Sirina) Waddell of Bushnell and Mike Waddell.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lyman and Ruby Waddell; one sister, Shirley Wisslead; two brothers, Larry (Virginia) Waddell and Gary Waddell.
Pat lived in rural Plymouth his entire life. He graduated from Rushville High School in 1969. He earned his Associate’s degree in diesel mechanics at Spoon River College, Canton. He served as road commissioner in Brooklyn Township for many years. He then worked as a correctional officer at the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office for 15 years, retiring in 2014.
He was a life-long farmer. He loved the land, livestock and, most of all, people. He went out of his way to brighten someone’s day. He absolutely adored his grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with his family.
A Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 15, 2018, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Pastor Doug Krukewitt officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the Funeral Home. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home after 9:00 A.M. Friday. Cremation will follow the Celebration of life service on Saturday. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Pat Waddell Scholarship Fund.
