Shirley M. (Hays) VanFleet

Shirley M. VanFleet age 76 of Plymouth, Illinois, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Memorial Hospital in Carthage.  She was born October 11, 1947, in Salem, Illinois to Reuben and Martha Moore Hays.  Shirley was united in marriage on April 4, 1967, in Fairfield, Iowa, to George VanFleet.

Surviving to mourn her passing are her husband of 56 years, George VanFleet, Plymouth, 5 children: Tina (Charlie) Brown Bonapart, Iowa, Rebecea (Terry) Milby, Industry, Roberta (Chad) Raymond, Plymouth, Reuben VanFleet, Plymouth, Dennis (Stacey) VanFleet, Macomb, 9 grandchildren: Rachel Hewett, Rhonda Brown, Cody Milby, Nathan Milby, Corbin Raymond, Parker Raymond, Conway VanFleet, Colten VanFleet, River VanFleet, 8 great grandchildren: JoJo Hewett, Danirae Hewett, Trevor Hewitt, Liam Claman, Hunter Hines, Daxtyn Milby, Brixtin Milby, Chase Milby, 7 sisters: Mary (Roger) Chappel, Catherine (Bill) Denly, Sandy Bennton, Linda Underwood, Norma Hornung, Rebecca (Paul) Crabtree, Robert (Dale) Scearcy, and 1 half brother: Ron Tinkler, Illinois

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents: Reuben and Martha Hays, and 1 sister and brother in law: Virginia and Jerry Scotton.

Shirley was a homemaker taking care of her family and all her pets, that she loved dearly.  She loved having her family come for family meals that she would prepare.  Most of all she loved being around her kids, grandkids and great grandkids, her eyes always lit up when she had the little ones come to visit.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 29, 2023, at St Marys Cemetery in St Marys, Illinois. Condolences and memories can be expressed to the family at jonesmortuaryfh.com.
