Ron E. McCoy, age 80, of Macomb, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at MDH in Macomb. He was born June 2, 1945, to Melvin and Elizabeth Noble McCoy. Ron was united in marriage on September 5, 1964, at the Fandon Christian Church to Rosa Depoy, she survives.
Surviving to mourn Ron’s passing is his wife, Rosa McCoy, 2 daughters: Anita (Bill Smith) McCoy, Macomb, Rhonda (Brian) Peterson, Aransas Pass, Texas, 4 grandchildren: Brandi Utter, Megan (Bobby) Smith, Whitney Gooden, Robert Utter, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 brother: William E. Mccoy, Biloxi, Mississippi.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, 1 nephew: Roger Allen, 2 sisters: Nancy Chapman, Lawanda Franks, 2 brothers: Eldon L. McCoy, and Richard McCoy.
Ron built and owned the Heron Lane RV Park in Rockport, Texas for 28 years, prior he served his country in the United States Navy. Ron loved to race stock cars and motorcycles, and when he wasn’t racing he was watching Nascar. He also enjoyed fishing, pool parties, and cooking on the grill for family and friends. When he wasn’t outside he loved to read. Most of all Ron loved every moment he spent with his family.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M, Monday, March 9, 2026, at Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Pastor Aaron Ferguson, and Pastor Aaron Baker, burial will follow the services at GoodHope Cemetery in GoodHope, Illinois, where military rites will be performed by the Macomb V.F.W and the Macomb American Legion. Visitation with the family will be 4:00 P.M to 6:00 P.M, Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Jones Mortuary in Colchester. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home from 8:30 A.M to 6:00 P.M, Sunday, March 8, 2026. Memorial is to Paralyzed Veterans or St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
