Robert Jess “Bob” Thompson age 71 of Colchester, passed away, Saturday, April 17, 2021, at McDonough District Hospital, in Macomb. He was born April 16, 1950, in Macomb, to John and Betty Hoover Thompson.
Surviving to mourn his passing are 2 sons: Robert (Jennifer) Thompson, Colchester, Richard (Carla) Thompson, Colchester, 5 grandchildren: Brittany (Tony) Grigis, Colchester, Marissa (Allen) Meyer, Buffalo Missouri, Robert (Morgan) Thompson, Macomb, Chapel Thompson, Colchester, Jaden Noel, Hannibal, Missouri, 2 step grandchildren: Hailey (Steven) Chaney, Sierra Porter, and 1 brother: Tarry (Kathy) Thompson, Industry, Illinois,
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, and significant other: Jolene DeWeese.
Bob enjoyed flea markets, going to Rutledge, cars, trucks, antiquing, collecting car magazines, and watching car races. When his son was at the track racing you could find Bob in the pits helping out. He enjoyed going to the Hometown Cafe everyday to visit with his friends. He had worked for Dolly Enterprises, in Colchester. He proudly served his country in the United States Marines, during Vietnam. He enjoyed being with his grandkids and great grandkids. The time Bob spent with his family brought him the greatest joy.
Bob’s family will host a Celebration of his Life from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the Elks Club in Macomb. Military rites will be preformed at 4:00 P.M. Saturday at the Elks by the Macomb V.F.W. and Macomb American Legion. Memorial is to the family of Robert Thompson. Jones Mortuary in Colchester is handling arrangements.
