Robert A. Fairchild, age 71 of Colchester, passed away April 26, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. He was born January 15, 1947, in Princeton, Indiana, to Arthur Howe and Sarah Dicus Fairchild. He was married to Connie E. Hoelscher on September 30 1966, in Plymouth, Illinois. He later married Susan J. (Beal) VanFleet on November 30 1984. Robert was preceded in death by his father, mother, step-father and sister: Betty Lou Fairchild.
Surviving to mourn his passing are his wife: Susan of Colchester, 1 Daughter: Mary Fairchild Bunney, Plymouth, 1 Son Benjamin (Tina) Fairchild, LaHarpe, 7 Grandchildren: Gwendolyn Bunney, Schylar, Shelby, Shyanne, Brett, Shaylee, Shantaye Fairchild, Step Children: Lisa (Paul) Butterfield, Troy (Kelly) VanFleet, Vicki (Rick) Williams, Step Grandchildren, Jill (Dylan Cook, Courtney Butterfield, Koal (Sarah) Twaddle, Jacob and Bailey VanFleet, Wyatt and Walker Williams, 2 Sisters: Sarah (Dick) Myers, Quincy and Nancy (Ray) Steele, Winchester.
Robert graduated from Plymouth High School in 1965, then served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970. He served in Korea, Japan, Texas and Florida He farmed, had rental houses, was a relay driver for the Peoria Journal Star and hauled Amish for several years. He had several horses during his life time and raised Golden Retrievers. He was a member of the Colchester First Baptist church where he served as head usher and greeter for many years.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the Colchester First Baptist Church, with Rev. Dennis Clements and Rev. Earl Beal. Burial with Military services by the Macomb American Legion and Macomb V.F.W. will be at St. Marys Cemetery in St. Marys. Visitation with the family will be 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday, April 30, 2018, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home after 9:00 A.M. Monday. Memorial is to the Colchester First Baptist Church or Colchester Rescue Squad. Condolences may be expressed to the family at jonesmortuaryfh.com
