Richard L. Mason age 60 of Colchester, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at his home in Colchester. He was born January 17, 1963, in Kokomo, Indiana, to Gaylord and Especia Wayland Mason. Richard was united in marriage April 17, 1982, in Macomb to Melinda Hall.
Surviving to mourn his passing is his mom: Especia Mason, Quincy, his wife of 41 years, Melinda Mason, Colchester, 2 sons: Kendall (Michelle) Mason, Macomb, Kurtis (Ashley) Mason, Macomb, 5 grandchildren: Payton Mason, Addison Mason, Brady Mason, Oliver Mason, Toby Mason, 2 sisters: Pamela (Billy) Marshall, Perry Georgia, and Susan Mahoney, Salem, Oregon.
Richard was preceded in death by his Dad, Gaylord Mason.
Richard loved the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and was known as a Cryptozoologist. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the St. Louis Cardinals. Richard served his country from 1980 to 1987 in the Army National Guard. He owned and operated Mason Mounts Taxidermy. He was very proud of the many mounts that he has done over the years. Richard never stood still very long he was always working or tinkering on something. He also loved to visit with family and friends and helping them when ever he could, he enjoyed the fish fries, and cooking his world famous fried Chicken. Most of all Richard loved his family and grandchildren. His life centered around his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 26, 2023, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester, with Chaplin David Hall. Burial with full Military rites by the Macomb V.F.W. and Macomb American Legion will follow the services at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at the Jones Mortuary. Friends may view and sign the register book a the funeral home after 8:30 A.M.
