R.L. Porter age 68 of Colchester, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at his home with his family at his side. He was born July 13, 1957, in Macomb to Ron and Norma Frakes Porter, they both preceded him in death. R.L. was united in marriage on August 26, 1978, at the Colchester United Methodist Church, to Deanna Webster.
Surviving to mourn his passing is his wife and soul mate of 47 years Deanna Porter, Colchester, 1 son: Dylan (Kaitlyn Billingsley) Porter, Macomb, 1 daughter: Desiree (Chris) Ford, Macomb, 7 grandchildren: Zander Ford, Paxtyn Ford, Lincoln Ford, Embree Ford, Maverick Holmes, Theodore Porter, Lillian Porter, 1 brother: Tom (Sheri) Porter, Colchester, 2 sisters: Rhonda (David) Curtis, Medina, Tennessee, Diann (Tim) Steele, Sedalia, Missouri, along with several Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews.
R.L. had worked for his dad building many homes in the Colchester area, he had also worked at Haeger Pottery in Macomb, Shelor Mobile Homes in Colchester and then for NTN Bower in Macomb till his retirement. He enjoyed NASCAR, Grilling out for his family and friends and wood working along with helping his family with projects. He was known to his family as the dog whisperer, they always knew that he would give them a treat. R.L. helped his daughter coach T Ball and enjoyed every minute he spent watching his grandchildren, he tried to never miss an event that they were in. Most of all R.L. loved his wife, kids and family.
Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 1, 2026, at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester, with Sean Eifert. Friends may view and sign the register book at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester from 8:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Sunday, May 31, 2026. Memorial is to the McDonough County Animal Shelter.
