Patricia Ann Rowland, 86, of Colchester, Illinois, died Friday, December 25, 2020.

Pat, or Trish as known by some, was born on July 20, 1934, in Macomb, the daughter of Ernest Glenn Smith and Mary Evelyn Birdsell Smith. She married Charles Fredrick Rowland on Dec. 24, 1949. He died on Oct. 31, 1987. She married Donald Laverne Shryack on Jun. 11, 1995. He died on Aug. 15, 1995.

During the course of her life, Pat worked at various places as a cook. However, her primary passion was in being a homemaker. As an avid gardener, she grew fruits, vegetables and, particularly, berries for her pies, canning and for gifts. She had a heart for the elderly and homebound and would often take meals and special treats for those in need of her heartfelt kindness. She enjoyed music and watching hummingbirds outside her kitchen window.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Wayne) Dorethy (Tennessee, IL), Sherry Longcor (Urbana, IL), and sons, Duane (Carbondale, IL), Jim (Melissa) (Champaign, IL), Tim (Kim) (Parker, CO), Tom (Colchester, IL) and her special friend Guy Eaves (LaHarpe, IL). She is also survived by two brothers, Melvin Smith (Keokuk, IA) and Bernard Smith (Colchester, IL), 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers Ernie Smith (Macomb, IL), Dick Smith (Macomb, IL), Marvin Smith (Cedar Rapids, IA), Charles Smith (Moline, IL), Robert Smith (Macomb, IL), her sister Beverly (Frank) Hawkins (Atkinson, IL) and her granddaughter, Stacey Mayberry (Urbana, IL).

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held later in 2021 at a date and place to be determined. Burial will be at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester also at a later date. Jones Mortuary in Colchester is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clayberg Nursing Home, 625 E.
