Norma L. Jones age 96 of Colchester passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Blessing Hospital, Quincy, Illinois. She was born July 9, 1921, in Colchester to Leland S. and I. Mildred Fentem Hocker. Norma was united in marriage to Howard “Vic” Jones, September 24, 1947, in Pawnee, Illinois, he preceded her in death on February 12, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 1 Brother: Robert Hocker.
Surviving to mourn her passing are 1 Sister In Law: Virginia Hocker Gerhardt, 1 Niece: Bonny (Kenny) Brown, 1 Nephew: Scott ( Sharon) Hocker along with several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and many good friends.
Norma had worked for 25 years as an Accountant Tech, for the State of Illinois Department of Revenue. In her earlier years she had also worked at the Colchester Maid Rite. She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Macomb V.F.W. Post 1921 Ladies Auxiliary. Norma was an avid Chicago Cub fan, she got a special treat in 2009 when she got to go to Wrigley Field and watch the Cubs play. She enjoyed making baby blankets, and afghans as gifts for her family and friends. Norma always stayed busy doing jigsaw puzzles going to the local nursing homes on Sundays to visit or taking flowers to graves of family and friends. Her love for her family and friends always showed by her never forgetting to send a birthday, holiday or special occasion greeting card.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Pastor Mark Hanson, burial will follow the services at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Colchester. The family will meet with friends 1 hour prior to the services Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home after 12 Noon to 5:30 P.M. Tuesday, then after 8:00 A.M. Wednesday till the time of services. Memorials are to PAW Animal Shelter, Macomb V.F.W. Post 1921 or Colchester United Methodist Church.
