Naomi Fowler Obituary

Naomi Angeline Fowler, age 74 of Macomb, formerly of Rossville, Georgia ascended to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Heartland Health Center in Macomb.  She was born April 28, 1946 in Macomb to Charlie Neal and Josephine Lenora Barrett Fowler.   Naomi is survived by several cherished cousins, many beloved friends, and two very special honorary granddaughters, Allison Housewright (husband Mitchell and son Luka) and Ashley Martin (husband Ryan and son Raymond) who helped care for her since her return to Illinois in 2008.

Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Charlie Marcus Fowler and her very special friend Bob Peace.  Naomi grew up in Lamoine Township, but had lived for nearly 50 years in the southern states settling in the north Georgia area.  Miss Fowler was a graduate of Ozark Bible Institute Academy, had attended Arkansas Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, Tennessee Temple University and the University of Tennessee.  She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and a proud child of God.

She had been employed at various businesses in the Chattanooga, TN area for over 25 years and retired in 1992 from Petty & Landis and Fortwood Center.  Naomi found the most rewarding part of her life was the time she got to care for her mother and brother during their transition to heaven.  Naomi loved the time she spent with family, friends, and her fellow church members. Naomi’s hobbies included reading (favorites included the Bible, any religious readings, research/cancer studies, and Debbie Macomber novels) working on puzzles, chatting with friends and strangers alike, and collecting anything that was purple or had a giraffe on it!

Naomi was a 23-year survivor of brain cancer and thanks God and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for her ability to live so long and encourage others. Naomi’s unwavering trust and faith in Christ was truly remarkable and her contagious spirit was unforgettable.
