Max M. Melvin, 85, of Blandinsville, Illinois passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
Born on August 31, 1940, Max served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1961 to 1966. He worked at Bouseman Auto Supply in Fountain Green, Caterpillar in Peoria, and the Macomb Block Plant. Max was well known in his community as the local Toyota mechanic.
Max was preceded in death by his parents, Noma (Pearce) Melvin and James Kent Melvin; his sister, Sandee (Stanley "Jeb") Pensinger; and his brother, James Brad Melvin.
He is survived by his brother Hal Melvin; nephew Cal (Ashley) Melvin; niece Karla (Matt) Sullivan; and seven great nieces and nephews: Cam, Addilyn, and Casen Melvin; Lainey, Audrey, Molly, and Nellie Sullivan; All of his remaining "loafers"
As per Max's wishes, there will be no services. A private burial of the cremated remains will take place at Glade City Cemetery in Blandinsville, at a later date. Jones Mortuary in Colchester is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorials may be made to PAW Animal Shelter in Fort Madison, IA and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
