Maurice R Greene

    Maurice R. Greene age 90 of Colchester, passed away with his daughters at his side on, Tuesday, evening, January 11, 2022.  He was born November 19, 1931, at Camden, Illinois, to Merle and Lena Schieferdecker Greene.  He was united in marriage December 1, 1951 in Rushville to Joan Black, she preceded him in death May 9, 2016.

    Surviving to mourn his passing are 2 daughters: Janet (Greg) Kent, Tennessee, Linda Greene, Colchester, 1 granddaughter: Briana Nolden, Fresno, California, 1 nephew: David Greene, Springfield. and many friends.

    Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 64 years, Joan Greene, 3 brothers: Frank Greene, Harold Greene, Lyle Greene, and 1 infant sister: Annabelle Greene.

    Maurice served his country in the United States Army.  Maurice had worked at Carson Plumbing and Heating, Hunt Appliance, owned and operated Greene Electric in Colchester, Sargent with the Office of Public Safety at Western Illinois University, and retired Utility Maintenance with Western Illinois University.  He was a lifetime member of the NRA, member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, Illinois Police Association, and Hills Grove United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed hunting and watching westerns, especially Gun smoke, and John Wayne movies.  During his time with OPS at Western he got the opportunity to chauffeured Johnny and June Cash when they came to Macomb.  Maurice was always there to help out his neighbors and friends with fixing things in their house.  The most important part of Maurice life was his family and granddaughter.

    Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 17, 2022, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Rev. Jim Clayton.  Burial will follow the services at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester.  Visitation with the family will be Sunday, January 16, 2022, from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at  the funeral home.  Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home from 8:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.
