Mary K. Vogler, age 83 of rural Colchester, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2022 at the Elms Nursing Home. She was born on August 3, 1938 in Macomb, Illinois to Robert and Grace (Strader) Bland. She was united in marriage to L. Dale Vogler in Macomb, Illinois on January 24, 1960. He survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Scott Vogler (Shannon Scott) of Colchester, IL, David (Melody) Vogler of Creal Springs, IL, and Larry (Cheryl) Vogler of Quincy, IL; seven grandchildren, Tiffany (Sarah Job) Vogler of Canton, MO, Tyler (Blake Red Elk) Vogler of Dallas, TX, Kaitlyn (Jeremy) Adler of Warrenton, MO, Jesse (Dolly) Vogler of Aviston, IL, Erica Vogler of St. Louis, MO, Andrew Vogler of Phoenix, AZ, and Kathryn Vogler of Quincy, IL; five great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister-in-law Norma Bland of Macomb, IL; and three nieces (Linda Mahan, Debbie Bland and Mary Ellen Downy).
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; step-father Earl Armstrong of Macomb, IL; and one brother, Robert Bland of Macomb, IL.
Mary was raised in Macomb and graduated from Western High School in 1956. She met Dale at the skating rink in Macomb and they were married at the First Christian Church in Macomb. After briefly residing in Macomb and Bardolph, Mary and Dale purchased and settled on the family farm south of Colchester. In addition to her careers as farm wife and mother, she worked at several jobs including FS, Jennings Sale Barn, Maid-Rite, and Spurgeons. Later she became a registered dietician and worked at McDonough District Hospital, Wesley Village, and Hy-Vee.
Mary was a member of the Fandon Christian Church. She was an active parent as her boys participated in 4-H, FFA, high school sports and music. Mary enjoyed her family very much. Her grandchildren revel about trips with Grandma Mary K. and her antics.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 11, 2022, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester, with Rev. Stacy Collins and Rev. Lee Unger. Burial will follow the services at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb. Visitation with the family will be 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Sunday, July 10, 2022, at the funeral home. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home after 8:30 A.M. Sunday. The family appreciates the care of the staff of the Elms Nursing Home and McDonough County Hospice.
