Marla J. Parker age 69 of Colchester, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2024, at her home with her family at her side. She was born November 7, 1954, in Carthage, Illinois to Lowell and Irma Ware Walker. They preceded her in death. Marla was united in marriage on February 17, 1973, in Brooklyn, Illinois, to Jim Parker.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jim Parker, Colchester, daughter: Krysta Royer, Colchester, son: Brandon Parker, Colchester, granddaughters: Jadyn Royer, Josey Parker and grandson: Ty Royer all of Colchester.
Marla had worked at Western Illinois University in the Speech and Hearing as a secretary for 35 years. After her retirement she enjoyed looking after her grandkids, which called her Goggie. She was a supporter of St. Jude and Boys Town. Her favorite things were going to the Casino, watching the Kansas City Chiefs and most of all playing cards at the Colchester Senior Center with all her friends. Over the years she and Jim enjoyed riding horses on trail rides, taking trips on their motorcycle, go boating and showing their old cars at the car shows. She loved the time they spent in their cabin on the Mississippi River.
She was a member for many years with the Lamoine Saddle Club and Rushville Saddle Club, and had done tree survey for the Arbor Foundation.
Most of all Marla loved her family. She will be greatly missed by all. She was truly one of the best.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the Jones Funeral Chapel in Colchester with Pastor Ted Shirley. Burial will follow the services at Irwin Cemetery, Plymouth, Illinois. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Thursday before the services at the funeral home. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home from 8:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 30, 2024, Memorial is to McDonough District Hospital Hospice.
