Lyman Sidwell Obituary

Lyman L. Sidwell age 76 of Colchester, passed away at his home in Colchester on Monday, October 10, 2016. He was born July 22, 1940, in Havana, Illinois, to Elwin and Lorene Shaw Sidwell. Lyman was united in marriage on February 7, 1964, in Quincy, Illinois to Marilyn Pevehouse.
Surviving to mourn his passing is his wife Marilyn of Colchester, 1 Son: Daryl and Lora Sidwell, Colchester, Stephanie Sidwell and Joe Powell, Plymouth, Illinois, Vanessa Sidwell and Jason Martin, Bella Vista, Arkansas, 2 Grandsons: Clay Sidwell, Drew Powell, 1 Brother: Duane Sidney and Sherry Sidwell, Fulton Missouri, 1 Sister: Helen Davis, Camp Point, Illinois.
Lyman was preceded in death by his parents, 1 Grandson: Cole Sidwell, 1 Brother: Stanley Sidwell, 5 Sisters: Debbie Blunt, Bonnie Hicks, Sandra Tippey, Vickie Beebe, and Judy Busby.
Lyman had been employed at Motorola in Quincy, Illinois, Coggeshall Construction, Clayton, Illinois and Freeman United Mine in Industry, Illinois. He attended Havana High School, received his GED from Central High School, Camp Point, Illinois. Served his country in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1961 at Fairbanks, Alaska. He attended the Church of Nazarene as a child. He was a member of Gold Hills, where he enjoyed playing golf and helping out around the course. Lyman was a past member of the Clayton Fire Department, he was in the 1st paramedic class in Adams County, former Mayor of Clayton, Illinois, past member of the Clayton Jaycees, loved gardening, fishing, being outdoors. He could be found visiting with friends at his local stops. Most of all he loved his family and time spent with his grandsons.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 14, 2016, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Rev. Victor “Randy” Randle. Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, October 14, 2016, at Southside Cemetery, Clayton, Illinois. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, October 13, 2016, at the Jones Mortuary from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.. Friends may view and sign the book at the funeral home Thursday after 9:00 A.M. Memorial is to Children's Miracle Network or American Cancer Society.
