Lewis Kent Stoneking age 70 of Macomb, formerly of Colchester, passed away Monday, September 28, 2020, at St. Marys Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois. He was born March 6, 1950 in Macomb to Lewis F. Stoneking and Elsie Lagore.
Kent is survived by many cousins and friends.
Kent was preceded in death by his parents. His step father: Ralph Rogers, and at the time of his death his sister Sharon Lagore was living, but she also passed away within 12 hours of his passing.
Kent graduated from Colchester High School, after graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, and served in Vietnam. On his tour he was wounded while attached to the 21st A.R.V.N. division. His awards include, the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service, Vietnam Campaign , National Defense and Good Conduct upon Discharge. After he returned home he worked as a construction laborer for 24 years, before going to Western Illinois University in Building Services. Kent was of the Christian faith in his young years he attended the Colchester Methodist Church with his mom and sister. He enjoyed music and reading. Most of all Kent loved his family and friends.
Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 5, 2020, at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester. Military rites will be held at the grave by the Macomb V.F.W. and Macomb American Legion. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home from 8:30 A.M. to 6:30 P.M. Sunday, October 4. Memorial is to Roseville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
