Laura L. Irish

Laura L. Irish age 73 of Colchester, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Macomb Acute Care.  She was born October 12, 1948, on the family farm in rural Blandinsville, Illinois, to Eben and Janie Welch Irish.  She was united in marriage in Pennsylvania, to Georgeann Moses.

 Surviving to mourn her passing are 1 brother: John Irish, Blandinsville, 2 sisters: Karen ( Don) Bierman, Centralia, Julie Irish, Colchester, 1 sister in law: Kathy Irish, Colchester, and several nieces and nephews.

 Laura was preceded in death by her parents, partner, Georgeann, 1 sister: Martha Irish, and 1 brother: Ralph Irish.

 Laura was a graduate of Northwestern High school, and Illinois State.  She taught at Lehigh Valley Community College, in Pennsylvania.  Laura and Georgeann owned and operated a Rainbow Store, The Rainbow Mountain Resort in the Pocono Mountains, and finally retired after running a restaurant and bar, also in Pennsylvania.  With what free time Laura had, she enjoyed going to auctions, art, and looking at architecture.  She enjoyed life to the fullest and loved being around her nieces, nephews, and the friends she was proud to call family.  Her family would like to thank Polly and Nancy, life long friends of Laura, for being there to help her in the last few months. This meant so much to Laura and her family.  They would also like to thank all of her Pennsylvania friends and family, Laura loved all of you dearly. And finally, Laura enjoyed all the texts, cards, thoughts and prayers, they were very much appreciated. 

 Cremation rites have been accorded.  Friends may sign the register book at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester from 8:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 11, 2022.  As per Laura’s wishes there will be no formal service.  Memorial is to The Colchester Library or Public Broadcasting Service, and can be left at the funeral home or mailed to Jones Mortuary box 352, Colchester, Illinois, 62326.
