Larry James Obituary

Larry R. James age 64 of Blandinsville, formerly of Colchester, passed away at his home in Blandinsville on Monday, June 25, 2018. He was born September 22, 1953 in Macomb, to Benjamin and Elgin McCullough James. Larry was united in marriage on June 23, 1984, in Colchester, to Paula Graham.
Surviving to mourn his passing is his father: Benny James of Colchester, 2 Sons: Steve (Ashley) James, Macomb, Roger James, Macomb, 2 Brothers: Sidney (Jennifer) James, Bardolph, Michael ( Marjorie) James, Prairie City, 2 Sister’s: Bonnie (Tom) Wilson, Colchester, Becky (Mike) Campbell, Estero, Florida, Larry’s ex-wife: Paula Matthew, Morrow Georgia, along with many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother: Elgin James, 1 Sister: Sarah Jane Burke and both sets of his Grandparents.
Larry had worked for 31 1/2 years at Cooper Industries in Macomb, while he was at Cooper, he held offices in the Local ABG Union 86, and then 12 years at Western Illinois University in Building Services, where he retired. He served his country in the United States Army. He was a member and very active in the Blandinsville First Christian Church. He enjoyed going uptown in the mornings to have coffee at Tinks and visiting with his friends. He also enjoyed playing pool, going to the Y.M.C.A. and watching the Cincinnati Reds play ball. The thing that brought the most pride was the time he spent with his family, friends and his boys.
Celebration of Life service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 30, 2018, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester, with Rev. Gordon Blankenship. Military Rites will be held at the funeral home by the Macomb V.F.W. and Macomb American Legion. The family will meet with friends 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Saturday. Private burial of the Cremains will be held at a later date, at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester. Friends may sign the register book at the funeral home after 9;00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. Friday, then from 8:00 A.M. till time of services Saturday. Memorial is to the Blandinsville First Christian Church. Condolences may be expressed to the family at jonesmortuaryfh.com
