Larry L. Fentem age 82 of Colchester, passed away, Thursday, July 28, 2022, at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, Illinois with his family at his side. He was born April 3, 1940 in Macomb, to Damon and Grace Alley Fentem. Larry was united in marriage March 1, 1963 in Colchester, to Millie McCullough.
Surviving to mourn his passing are his wife of 59 years Millie Fentem, Colchester, 3 sons: Chris (Tina) Fentem, Colchester, Andy (Angella) Fentem, Colchester, Matt (Elzbieta Baraniecka) Fentem, Heidelberg, Germany, 4 grandchildren: Ashley (Aaron) Steffens, Jacob Fentem, Ian Fentem, Ruth Fentem, 4 great grandchildren: Annestin, Keller, Kinnick, Noralyn Steffens, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Larry proudly served his country in the 173 Airborne Brigade during Vietnam. He had worked at Colchester Brick and Tile, King Sealy in Macomb, and retired as a Site Technician at Argyle Lake State Park. He also farmed and cared for his cattle. Larry loved the land and was a good steward of it. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, anything that had him outside. Larry’s family was the center of his life and he loved all the time that he spent with them.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother Arlin, and 1 sister Shirley
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 4, 2022, at the Colchester United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Clayton. Burial will follow the services at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester with military rites preformed by the Macomb V.F.W. and Macomb American Legion.
A celebration of life luncheon will follow the services at Mt. Auburn Cemetery at the Colchester United Methodist Church. Visitation with the family will be 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home after 8:30 A.M. Wednesday.
