Kathleen Luan Cooper, 89, passed away Monday, Sept.1, 2025, at home.
She was born on April 10, 1936, to Bennie and Ila Stoneking, in Industry. She attended high school in Macomb and was a graduate of Parkland College in Champaign. She married Vaughn Eugene Cooper on Jan. 4, 1954. He survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Cindy (Hank) Koch, Jacqueline (Roger) Bickers and Pearl Hough, all of Rantoul, and Anita LaCumsky of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; a sister, Jacqueline Zook of Bushnell; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Stoneking of Iola, Kan.
She worked at the Chanute Air Force Base bowling center as the snack bar manager, retiring in1993. After graduating from Parkland College, she worked at the Rantoul Walmart for 15 years before fully retiring to spend time with family and enjoy her love of traveling, camping and sewing. She was an outstanding seamstress and did alterations for Deena's Style Shop in Rantoul, made thousands of masks for Carle Foundation Hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic, and made stuffed animals and dolls for all her grandchildren. She was also a proud member of Alliance Chapter NSDAR.
Family Graveside service will be Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester. Jones Mortuary in Colchester is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences and memories can be expressed to the family at jonesmortuaryfh.com.
