Judy Schoonover age 81 of Colchester, passed away at her home with her family at her side on Monday, May 8, 2023. She was born December 15, 1941, in Macomb, to Paul and Pansy Bolen Helton. Judy was united in marriage June 29, 1958, in Kirksville, Missouri, to Stan Schoonover.
Surviving to mourn her passing is her husband of 64 years, Stan Schoonover, Colchester, 1 son; Jerry (Peggy Brown) Schoonover, Plymouth, 3 Daughters: Cindy (Jerry) Markey, Colchester, Penny (Monte) Easley, Ipava, Linda (Brett Burgard) Garretson, Canton, 5 grandchildren: Anthony (Jamie) Markey, Blake (Meghan) Markey, Kaneessa (Dustin) Stambaugh, Laci (Lance) Kelley, Tyler (Trista) Schoonover, 7 great grandchildren: Griffin Schoonover, Andi Schoonover, Preston Stambaugh, Gavin Stambaugh, Charles Markey, Lawson Kelley, Langston Kelley, 1 brother: Jack Helton and 1 sister: Janice Malone, Macomb.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother: Jim Helton, 1 uncle: John Helton and 1 aunt: Doris Sloan.
Judy was a 1960 graduate of Colchester High School. from 1968 to 1973 she sold Royal Neighbor Insurance and was a deputy officer with the company, 1953 to 1975 she worked with her mom, Pansy at Helton Nursing home in Colchester, in 1985 Judy had worked as the unit secretary at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, 1975 to 2003 she and Norma Porter owned and operated N & J Upholstery and Draperies in Colchester. She also owned and operated Lakeside Quilting and Draperies in Colchester from 2003 to present. Judy has been a member of the Colchester Business Professional Women’s Club in Colchester. Judy decorated many birthday and wedding cakes for people, she enjoyed doing crafts, canning, gardening, fishing and camping. Most of all Judy loved all the time she was with her family.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 12, 2023, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Rev. Jim Clayton. Burial will follow the services at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb. Friends may sign the register book at the funeral home from 8:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 11, 2023.
