Judith (Judy) Mason Obituary

Judith “Judy” Mason age 91 of Colchester, IL passed away on June 30, 2026, at The Lamoine Assisted Living and Memory Care facility.   Judy was born on September 13, 1934, in Blandinsville, IL to Margaret and William “Bill” Britton.  After graduating from Blandinsville High School, Judy was employed at the McDonough County Courthouse until starting a family.

Judy was introduced to Rod Mason on a blind date and were married on May 29, 1955, in Blandinsville, IL. They were married for 66 years. Rod and Judy moved to Colchester in 1958 where they raised their children Renea and Rory. Judy and Rod had a blessed life together and were wonderful examples to their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren whom they loved very much.  Judy was the typical 60’s stay at home mom until being employed as a Billing Clerk/Customer Service Representative by McDonough Telephone in the early 70’s where she retired from after many years of employment.

She was a member of the Colchester Methodist Church and a very social and giving person.  She enjoyed participating in Christmas Around the Prairie, CABA, and Reach for Recovery through MDH, as she was a breast cancer survivor.  Her special group of lady friends the “Lunch Bunch” frequently visited area restaurants for lunch and shared friendships and many laughs.

Judy was an avid league bowler for approximately 30 years, bowling in Blandinsville and Macomb.  She also enjoyed the music of The Statler Brothers and following Stanley’s bands for over 50 years.  She enjoyed taking tickets for the On Stage Band Opry Show and greeting each person. The Chicago Cubs were her team, as Rod’s team was the St. Louis Cardinals.  They usually watched their games separately with an occasional “WooHoo” coming from the living room.

Surviving to mourn her passing is her daughter Renea (Stanley) Creasy and son Rory (Jolene) Mason. Grandchildren Shane (Melissa) Creasy, Shalee (Tim) Painter, Tyler (Raquel) Mason, Kyle Mason, Brytton (Danielle) Mason. Great grandchildren Samantha Creasy, Kyndel & Eli Painter, Kataleya & Kace Mason, Willow, Wilder & Colter Mason and sister Sue Waggoner of Cleveland, TN.  Judy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, step-father, sister-in-law, and two brother-in-laws.
