Judith Bland Obituary

Judith A. Bland of Macomb, Illinois, died September 19, 2021 in Roseville, Illinois.  She was born in Macomb on August 17, 1941, a daughter of Albert “Bert” and Agatha Black.  She grew up in Fandon, Illinois where she became a life-long member of the Fandon Christian Church and where she married Larry L. Bland on December 25, 1961.   She graduated from Colchester High School and went to Quincy for training in cosmetology; she owned and operated her own shop in Colchester for several years before retiring and moving with her husband to Florida.  Following his death after 51 years of marriage, she moved back to Macomb, Illinois.

Judy and Larry had one child, Tereasa (Brian) Stringer  of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and two grandchildren, Bethany Jados of Chicago and Kylie (Daniel Zambrano) Vester of Fort Wayne. They survive her along with her sister, Estelene Bodenhamer, a niece, Fayla Bodenhamer, a nephew, Al Black, and many cousins she enjoyed seeing and visiting with.   Cousins Beverly and Raymond Steele were especially close to her in her last year and are now custodians of her beloved cats, Pumpkin and Berry.

Going on before her were her husband, Larry Bland, her parents, her brother, William Black and his wife Barbara,  niece, Carolyn (Black) Miller, and a nephew, Albert “Bodie” Bodenhamer.

Judy was always an active participant in her home church for years and in the Macomb First Christian Church later on.  She was adept at making all kinds of crafts and was working on some shortly before her passing.   Judy considered her long marriage to be a very happy one and her daughter to be the joy of her life and her husband’s.  Her religious faith, her extended family, and her many friends along with her own little family led her to say that life here has been wonderful and fulfilling.

Jones Mortuary in Colchester is handling arrangements.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Private burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb at a later date.

A memorial has been set up for her at the Fandon Christian Church, 7485 N. 600th Road, Colchester, Illinois. 62326.  Notes of condolence may be sent as desired to Mrs. Tereasa Stringer, 230 West Sherwood Terrace, Fort Wayne, Indiana, 46807
