Joseph W. Wayland age 80 of Daytona Beach, Florida, formerly of Colchester, passed away with his family at his side at his home in Daytona Beach, on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. He was born August 19, 1941, in Colchester to Jesse and Inza Reno Wayland. Joe was united in marriage August 17, 1985, at Argyle Lake State Park in Colchester, to Marsha Burton.
Surviving to mourn his passing are his wife of 36 years Marsha Wayland, Daytona Beach, Florida, 1 son; Joe T. (Jessica) Wayland, Alabama, 1 daughter; Nikki Burton (Luther Dickson), Florida, 3 grandchildren; Jonathan Cooper, Braylyn and Jaylen, 3 brothers; Richard Wayland, Jack (Sherry) Wayland, Jesse (Red) (Carole) Wayland, 5 sisters; Nedra Amerine, Especia (Gaylord) Mason, Darlyne Kay (Charles) Ackers, Alma Feathers, Lynn (Richard) Newberry. Kyle Williams that was raised in Joe and Marsha’s home, along with many nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers: Jimmy and Doug Wayland, 3 sisters: Lila Alton, Jacquline Groves and Toni Schwanke.
Joe had been a plumber in the Colchester area for many years, he enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing. Joe served his country in the United States Army serving in Vietnam. He was a lifetime member of the Macomb V.F.W. The time that Joe spent with his family and grandchildren, brought him the greatest joy in his life.
Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Jones Mortuary in Colchester, with Pastor Jim Richardson. Burial with military rites by the Macomb V.F.W. and Macomb American Legion will be at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday, October 11, 2021, at the Jones Mortuary. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home after 8:30 A.M. Monday. Memorial is to Halifax Health Hospice.
