John J. Turke Jr. of Macomb, Illinois. Left this life of pain and suffering and entered the Kingdom of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 11:37 A.M. on March 17, 2023, from the cardiac care unit in St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. John was born July 4, 1949 in Hinsdale, Illinois to Dorothy Jane (Horvath) Turke and John Joseph Turke. He was married to his forever thankful wife, Debbie “Lou Turke the first” Rickard on December 31, 1992, in Macomb, Illinois, who survives.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years Debbie “Lou” Turke, 3 sons: Brian “BJ” (Cathy) Turke, of Sebring, Florida, Joseph “Joeman” (Laura) Turke, Rogers, Minnesota, Bob (Mandy) Ellis, Horseshoe, North Carolina, 4 daughters: Betty “Lou” (Jarrad) Martin, Bushnell, Amy (Brandon) Hulls, Carthage, Stephie “Lou” Ellis, Macomb, Hannah “Lovie” Ellis, Bushnell, and 1 sister in law: Donna “Lou” Lantz, Hamilton. John had 20 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Steve “Omar” (Lynn) Turke, Tampa, Florida, Martin “Air” (Lisa) Turke, Macomb, 1 sister: Sue “Prima” Miller, Chicago. Also surviving are 19 nieces and nephews, 33 great nieces and nephews, 2 great great nieces and 1 sister in law Shiela “Lou” Turke, Macomb.
John was preceded in death by his mother and father, 1 brother: Jim Turke and2 grandsons: Cedric Huffman and Elijah Ellis.
John went to Culver Stockton College and belonged to the Sig EPS. John was a real estate appraiser for several years until he moved to Florida and became and apartment manger until retirement in 2004. John loved his wife and family dearly. He had a child like spirit that drew children to him. He loved his Lord and his Lords creation, especially squirrels and birds, who he fed daily. He was a faithful supporter of St. Judes, Shriners for Children and Tunnel to Towers. He will be terribly missed by his family and many friends
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the Jones Mortuary with Pastor David Scott. Burial will follow the services at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester with Pastor Larry Rickard. Visitation with the family will be from 12 noon to 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the Jones Mortuary. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home from 8:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Friday, March 24, 2023. Memorial is to the family of John.
