Janie Irish

Janie Irish age 96 of Colchester, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the La Harpe Davier Health Care Center in LaHarpe, Illinois. She was born January 13, 1922, in Macomb, to Ralph R. and Hazelle Hoyt Welch. Janie was united in marriage on July 13, 1947 in Macomb to Eben Irish. He preceded her in death on March 1, 1993, she was also preceded in death by her parents, 1 Daughter: Martha Irish, 1 Son: Ralph Irish, and 1 Sister: Virginia Welch.
Surviving to mourn her passing are 1 Son: John Irish, 3 Daughters: Laura Irish, Karen (Don) Bierman, Julie Irish, 6 Grandchildren that were the joy in her life, Jane, Ashley, Andrew, Jacob, Sarah, Ethan, 7 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Daughter In Law: Kathy Irish.
Janie spent her life in Macomb, Blandinsville and Colchester. She served her country in the United States Navy during World War II, and left the Navy with many lifelong friends. She was an enthusiast of antique cars, rocks, jewelry making, birds, going to auctions, gardening, horses, photography, raising baby deer and being in parades. He home was always open for visits with friends, cousins, and animals. Her generous spirit was an inspiration to all. The family wishes to thank the staff of the LaHarpe Davier Care Center for the compassionate care that Janie received.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester. Military rites will be preformed at 5:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral prior to visitation by the Macomb V.F.W. and Macomb American Legion. Burial will take place at Friendship cemetery at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. Friends may sign the register book at the funeral home after 9:00 A.M. Wednesday. The family request memorial contributions to any Veteran charity especially Navy women.
