Jane (Waddell) Axtell

Jane Axtell, age 80, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Her radiant smile, boundless love for life, and deep devotion to her family will be remembered by all who knew her. Known for her infectious smile and warm heart, she had a way of making everyone feel welcomed and loved.

Jane was born on September 3, 1944, to Lyman and Goldie Waddell. Jane was a joyful spirit from the beginning. She cherished time spent with her family, always the first to laugh, lend a hand, bake a plate of cookies and take the time to enjoy a cup of coffee with a loved one. Whether hosting family gatherings or simply enjoying a sunny afternoon with loved ones, she brought joy to every moment. Jane most recently worked at McDonough District Hospital Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation in Macomb.

She is survived by Bud Waddell (Barb) of Fallbrook, California; Bob Sullivan (Edie) of Prairie City, Harry Waddell (Sirina) of Bushnell, Kay Doggett of Loveland, Colorado; and Mike Waddell; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Lyman, Goldie and Ruby Waddell (stepmother); Faye Waddell; Gary Waddell; Larry Waddell; Shirley Wisslead; and Pat Waddell.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that her smile, laughter, and love will live on in all of us. We will miss her laughter, her warmth, and the joy she brought to each day. We love you more, Jane.
