James R. Lozier Jr. age 66 of Tennessee, Illinois, passed away Friday, June 9, 2023, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. He was born January 6, 1957 in Roseville, Illinois to James and Ruth Slagel Lozier Sr.. James was united in marriage to Brenda Switzer, they divorced in 2006. Surviving to mourn his passing are 1 son: James H. (Carissa) Lozier - Bloomington, 1 daughter: Nicole (Brett) Rollins, Lawndale, Illinois, 6 grandchildren: Jesse Jr. Lozier, Emma Lozier, Alexia Rollins, Vanessa Rollins, Alyssa Lozier, Cameron Lozier, his special friend: Patty Switzer, 4 sisters: Donna Loper, Burlington, Iowa, Brenda Chandler, Estero, Florida, Wanda (Bill) Johnson, Monmouth, Illinois, and Norma (Mike) Crandall, Port Charlotte Florida, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
James was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son: Jesse Lozier, 1 half brother: James “Larry” Steele, and 1 nephew.
James was born and raised in Roseville and was a graduate of Roseville High School. James had worked at McClure Rock Quarry, Yetter Manufacturing, he had been the Road Commissioner for Colchester Tennessee Township, and was in building maintenance for West Prairie School District. James had served on the Colchester Fire Protection District. He mowed many lawns for people in the area and was always working on small engines and yard decorations for family and friends. James loved to tinker. He enjoyed fishing and going to the Tennessee Cafe for coffee. Most of all James loved the time he spent with his family.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, June 16, 2023, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Rev. Jim Clayton. Burial will follow the services at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home from 8:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Thursday.
