Hazel I. (Mixer) Ash

Hazel I. Ash age 88 of Colchester, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Illini Hospital in Pittsfield, Illinois.  She was born August 11, 1936, in Golden, Illinois, to Leslie and Dorothy Ruth Deming Mixer.  Hazel was united in marriage July 15, 1960, in Carthage to Sanford Ash, he preceded her in death on April 19, 2014.

Surviving to mourn her passing are 1 son: Gregory (Lona) Ash, Colchester, 2 daughters: Debbie (Todd) Crone, Rockport, Illinois, Terry (Don) Thomas, Rockport, Illinois, 13 grandchildren, 29, great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 grandson: Brian Cramer, and 1 sister: Maxine Vessey.

Hazel had worked at Hemps in Macomb, The Colchester Nursing Center and the Elms in Macomb.  She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.  Hazel enjoyed day trips with her friends, attending church activities, gardening and reading.  She most of all enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren.  Hazel held her family close to her heart.

Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester.  Visitation with the family will be 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday, August 23, 2024, at the Jones Funeral Chapel in Colchester.  Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home from 8:30 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.
