Glenda M. Smith age 70 of Colchester, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the home of her son in Canton, Missouri, with her family at her side. She was born July 6, 1953 in Macomb, Illinois, to Orville and Dorothy Martin Clark. She was united in marriage on October 19, 1974, in Macomb, to Bernard Smith.
Surviving to mourn her passing is her husband of 48 years, Bernard Smith, Colchester, 2 sons; Steve (Julieann) Smith, Canton, Missouri, Ernie Smith, Colchester, 3 grandchildren: Racheal Smith, Galesburg, Sabrina Smith, Canton, Missouri, Billy Karger, Lomax, Illinois, 3 brothers: Jerry (Connie) Husband, Mendota, Illinois, Larry (Noni) Husband, Mendota, Illinois, Marion (Ruth) Husband, Oquawka, Illinois, 1 sister: Doris (Richard) Bates, Holly Hill, Florida, 1 very special niece: Pat Danner, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers: Jim Husband, Olin Husband, 3 sisters: Jean Gittings, Judy Danner, and Slyvia Husband.
Glenda enjoyed reading especially Daniel Steel books, she also was a huge fan of Garth Brooks. Glenda also enjoyed watching old westerns, taking care of her animals, gardening, going with family or friends to the casino, she had a large collection of wolf figurines, and cooking for her family and friends. She was well known for her chicken and noodles. Most of all Glenda loved to visit with her family and friends, and loved every moment she spent with them.
Visitation with the family will be 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home from 8:30 A.M. Tuesday till 7:00 P.M. Cremation will take place following the visitation. Graveside services will be at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester at a later date. Memorial is to the family of Glenda, to help with expenses. Condolences and memories can be expressed to the family at jonesmortuaryfh.com.
