Gerald L. (Katsy) Humes

Gerald L. ( Katsy ) Humes age 87 of Colchester, passed away at 11:30 P.M. Sunday, May 22, 2016, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb. He was born September 4, 1928, in Colchester to Merle and Mable Bennett Humes . He was united in marriage on January 10, 1951, in Yellville, Arkansas, to Joan Valentine.
Surviving to mourn his passing are his wife of 65 years, Joan of Colchester, 1 Son: Dennis Humes, Colchester, 1 Daughter: Teri and (Kevin) Paul, Colchester, 5 Grandchildren: Jessica Smith Dana Point, California, Hillary Humes, Haley Humes both of Macomb, Brittney Paul, St.Louis, Missouri, Trenton Paul, Colchester, 2 Great Grandchildren: J.J. and Jacob Smith, Dana Point, California.
Katsy was preceded in death by his parents, 1 Brother: Zanel Humes, 4 Sisters: Betty Sartore, Frances Mesick, Donna Coghill, Rachel Creasy and 1 Granddaughter: Mary Paul.
Katsy was a 50 year retired Operating Engineer with #649 Peoria. He was a member of the Quarter Horse Association, Coon Hound Association, Macomb American Legion. He was an avid sports fan of the St.Louis Cardinals. He had coached little league baseball, soft ball and colt league baseball. He was of the Christian Faith.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 27, 2016, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester, with Rev. Mark Smith. Burial will take place at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Colchester with Military Rites by the Macomb V.F.W. and Macomb American Legion. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home after 9:00 A.M. Thursday. Memorial is to Colchester Rescue. Online Condolences may be expressed to the family at jonesmortuaryfh.com
