Ella Mae Waddill Obituary

Ella Mae Waddill age 93 of Macomb, formerly of Plymouth, passed away Monday, June 7, 2021, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.  She was born May 30, 1928 in Colchester to Frank and Edna Graham Wayland.  She was united in marriage to Gerald Waddill on September 20, 1947 in Colchester.

 Surviving to mourn her passing are her husband of 73 years Gerald Waddill, Macomb, 3 daughters: Janet (Stephen) Hopper, Macomb, Debbie (Mike) Sullivan, Colchester, Lori Waddill (John Taylor), Moline; 5 grandchildren: Nate (Lisa) Hopper, Amanda (Marc) Roman, Tracie (Keith) Anderson, Abby (Jared) Greenwald, Michael (Xandra) Sullivan; 9 great grandchildren: Charlie and Atticus Roman, Conor Hopper, Taylor Anderson, Torie Kreps, Miriam and Phinehas Greenwald, and Violet and Sebastian Sullivan and 1 great great granddaughter: Amara Kreps. Ella Mae was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

 

Ella Mae was a member of Hills Grove United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and worked in many areas of the church receiving recognition with a Mission Pin. She was also a member of Plymouth Women’s Research Forum and The Crooked Creek Special Club. She was a reading mentor for the Plymouth Grade school for many years.  She cleaned many homes for people locally and helped care for their children. 

 

Ella Mae could grow everything from snapdragons and zinnias to lima beans and beets. Her flower gardens were beautiful and attracted the butterflies that she loved. She often used them as a witness to others, sharing that for her they symbolized Jesus’ resurrection and the Hope we have in Him. She will also be remembered for her wonderful hugs and singing. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She and Gerald have a love story that others can only hope for, leaving a precious legacy. 

 

Cremation rites have been accorded.  Friends may view and sign the register book at the Jones Mortuary from 8:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Sunday, June 13, 2021.   Visitation with the family will be 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.  Services and burial will take place at a later date.  Memorials can be made to Hills Grove United Methodist Church and Tri County Rescue in Plymouth.  Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.jonesmortuaryfh.com.
