Ella L. Parkins “Louise” age 91 of Colchester, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020, at Heartland Health Care Center, in Macomb. She was born May 10, 1929, in Colchester, to Alva and Velma Hocker Griffith. She was united in marriage to Paul Parkins, February 1, 1948, in Colchester. He preceded her in death on August 31, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and 1 Sister: Lola Cook.
Surviving to mourn her passing are 1 Son: Stephen Paul V. (Diane) Parkins, 1 Daughter: Susan Paulette (George) Guzzardo, Macomb, 1 Granddaughter: Mara T. Parkins, 3 Nephews: Tim (Deborah) Cook, Rolla, MO., James Allan (Jane) Cook Jr., Jacksonville, Illinois, John Ahern, 1 niece: Abby Jo (Ron) Cook Luebbert, West Falma, MO. and many other extended family.
Louise had worked at GTE in Macomb for 25 years, then she was with McDonough District Hospital for 11 years as the Communication Director. She also worked along side her husband Paul on the family farm. She was very proud that it is a Centennial Farm. In Louise’s younger years she and her family attended the Fandon Christian Church where she started playing the piano. She then became a member of the Colchester First Christian Church, where she played the piano, and organ for church, weddings and many funerals. Louise was a Colchester High School Graduate, and attended Spoon River College in the Business and Communication college. She loved music, flowers, giving tours of her English Cottage Gardens, water gardens, photography, and going turkey hunting.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, July 30, 2020, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Pastors Tim and J. Cook. Visitation will be from 11:30 till 1:00 on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will take place following the funeral service at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home from 8:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. Wednesday.
