Dwight Haines age 78 of Colchester, passed away, Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Memorial Hospital in Carthage, Illinois. He was born April 21, 1942, in Macomb to Robert "Toddy" and Minnie Friday Haines. Dwight was united in marriage to Dianne Crum in Carthage, on August 4, 1963.
Surviving to mourn his passing is his wife of 57 years Dianne Haines, Colchester, 1 daughter: Laura (Tony) Irvin, Burlington, Iowa, 2 sons; Seth (Tanya) Haines, LaHarpe, Illinois, Ernest (Tabitha) Haines, Macomb, Illinois, 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 3 sisters; Peggy Hillyer, Baldwin, Missouri, Linda Berglund, Belleair Bluffs, Florida, Cheri (Gene) Jones, LaHarpe, Illinois and many nieces and nephews.
Dwight was preceded in death by his parents and 1 son Otis Haines.
Dwight was a member and very active at Bethel Baptist Church, he had coached little league baseball for many years and was a foster parent for 10 years of which he cared for 23 kids. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hunting mushrooms and bred and raised boxers. Dwight had worked at both the middle school and south elementary in Colchester for both Colchester School District and West Prairie School District. Of all the things that he did the greatest love of all was the time he spent with his family.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 19, 2021, at the Jones Mortuary with Pastor Jim Richardson, burial will follow the services at Bethel Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home after 8:30 A.M. Sunday and from 8:30 A.M.
