Dennis A. Bunt, age 76 of Taylorville, Illinois formerly of Colchester, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center, in Taylorville, Illinois. Dennis was born July 27, 1945, in Macomb, to William and Vera Hodges Bunt. He was united in marriage, in Macomb, on December 17, 1966 to Marcia L. Nelson.
Surviving to mourn his passing are his wife of 55 years, Marcia Bunt, Taylorville, 2 daughters: Pamela (Brent) Dickey, Taylorville, Tracey Probst. 3 grandchildren: Chance Dickey, Taylorville, Kelsie Parks, Colchester, Wyatt Parks, Colchester, 1 brother: Lee Bunt, 2 sisters: Laura (Steve) Bartlett, Colchester, Susan (Bob) Barry, Macomb, step mother; Georgia Bunt, Quincy, and many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; William (Bill) and Vera Hodges Bunt.
Dennis proudly served his country during the Vietnam war in the United States Navy. He retired from N.T.N. Bower in Macomb. He was a member of the Macomb V.F.W. and Macomb American Legion, along with the Colchester United Methodist Church and the Tri County Saddle Club in LaHarpe. Dennis and his family loved horses and raised and rode many through the years. Dennis, Marcia and the girls would take family horseback vacations to Shawnee National Park, Kentucky and Indiana or Family vacations without horses to the Ozarks and/or St. Louis. He was also a good Dancer. Dennis and Marcia went to a lot of Square Dances in La Harpe at the Saddle Club, Industry, Table Grove, Good Hope and Stronghurst at the theater building, and etc. Roller skating in Macomb was also a very popular. He instilled hard work and responsibility in caring for the horses to his girls. He could fix about anything and was always working in his shop. When he had time he enjoyed, riding his motorcycle, playing pool, ping pong, volleyball, horse shoes, playing pitch, playing board games, taking his family to WildWood Haven Lake Fireworks Shows on the Fourth of July, and watching action adventure movies especially if they were a western. Games were a must on special occasions, or family gatherings. On holidays, like Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and especially on New Years. Dennis and Marcia loved to host big family parties at their house. Dennis loved his family and showed it in many ways through the years, from meeting the Lutz's most Friday nights for supper in Macomb, usually Hardee’s and then off to the grocery store for the week's supply of food afterwards and met again every other Saturday night at their house or his for supper. cards and games. Weekends were always busy and fun and once a month on Monday nights going to saddle club meetings and activities.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 20, 2022, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Rev. Jim Clayton. Military rites by the Macomb V.F.W. and Macomb American Legion will be held at the funeral home following services. Friends may sign the register book at the funeral home from 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Thursday, May 19, 2022.
