Dean Jefferson Obituary

      Dean E. Jefferson age 91 of Colchester, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, on Christmas day, Friday, December 25, 2020, at his home in Colchester.  He left this world with his family at his side.  He was born December 14, 1929, in Colchester to John and Edna Hoyt Jefferson.  Dean was united in marriage March 16, 1957 in Aurora, Illinois, to Doris Gabrielson, she preceded him in death on  October 28, 2009.

       Surviving are his children: Bill (Willa) Jefferson of CO., Betty (Tim) Fross of Colchester, Bonnie Sue (Ben) Johnson of Huntertown, IN., Ed Jefferson of Medical Lake, Washington, Doris Marie (Pete) Jefferson-Smith, Good Hope, 15 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren, sister in law: Maribeth Jefferson, Plymouth, Illinois, brother in law: Ralph Gabrielson, Aurora, IL, sister in law: Marilyn (Robert) Constantine, Oswego, IL. and many nieces and nephews.

     Dean was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Doris Jefferson, 2 brothers: Hoyt (Elva) Jefferson, Irvin Jefferson, 3 sisters: Mildred (Bob) Wilson, Louise Hodges, Bonnie (Kenith) Sowers.

     Dean served his country proudly in the  United States Army from 1952 to 1954 with the 472 engineering and aviation battalion in Saint Nazaire, France.  After his time in the service he had worked at Bowers in Macomb, and Yetter Manufacturing in Colchester, but his true love brought him back to his sesquicentennial family farm, which he was very proud of.  He was a lifetime resident of Hire Township, in McDonough County.  In 2014 he was honored to go with the Honor Flight to Washington, DC.  Dean enjoyed working on his farm, he loved to garden, cutting firewood, going to the Full Scoop for Lemon Ice Cream and hunting.  He was a member of Faith Fellowship Church in Tennessee, Illinois.  Dean was a man of God, he loved his Lord, his church, his country, farming, but most of all he loved and cherished his family.  Deans favorite scripture is Proverbs 3  5 - 6.  Dean was a man of integrity, a servant and a story teller.

     Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 16, 2020, at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester, with Rev. David Scott.  Military services will be held at the grave by the Macomb V.F.W. and Macomb American Legion.  Friends may view and sign the register book at the Jones Mortuary from 8:30 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday, January 15, 2020 and from 8:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 16.  Memorials are to Faith Fellowship Church, Shepherds Ministries, Friends of Israel.    Online condolence may be expressed to the family at www.jonesmortuaryfh.com.
