Darlyne Smith

Darlyne Smith age 100 of Colchester, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017, at the Elms Nursing Home in Macomb. She was born July 9, 1917, in Macomb to Roy and Pearl Martin Nelson.
Surviving to mourn her passing are 1 Son: Stanley Smith, Reno, Nevada, 3 Daughters: Penny Hunt, Reno, Nevada, Frances Ayers, Macomb, Wilma Welch, Colchester, 11 Grandchildren,13 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great Great Grandchildren.
Darlyne was preceded in death by her parents, 1 Son: Royal Hendrickson, 1 Sister: Carolee Williamson, 1 Brother: Leroy Nelson.
Darlyne may have been born in Macomb at the Phelps Hospital, but the Colchester area was always her home. Darlyne was baptized and a member of the Colchester First Christian Church. She and her sister Carolee were ahead of HGTV by buying, fixing up houses, decorating them, then selling them. Darlyne was the best of the best mom’s from the early age of 10 years old she took care of her bother and sister, to caring in every way to her own children no matter what age they were, to keeping the family reunion going for 65 years.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 24, 2017, at the Jones Mortuary, in Colchester with Rev. Donnie Case. Burial well take place at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester. Visitation with the family will be Friday from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Memorial is to the American Heart Association.
