Charles H. Riekeberg age 87 of Colchester, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb. He was born August 21, 1933 in Bible Grove, Mo., to Carl and Pearle Beaird Riekeberg. Charles was united in marriage, October 16, 1959, in Kahoka, Mo. to Viana I. Veff, she preceded him in death on November 27, 2007.
Surviving to mourn his passing is one son: David (Pam) Riekeberg, Colchester, one step daughter: Sharon (Gene) Wheatley, Burnside, Illinois, 3 grandchildren, Diana Riekeberg, Kristy Riekeberg, David Riekeberg Jr., 2 step grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and one sister: Dorothy Harvey, Memphis, Mo.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Viana Riekeberg, 3 brothers, 1 sister and one daughter: Diana Riekeberg.
Charles served his country in the United States Army, during the Koren War. He had worked at Elgin metal caskets in Elgin, Illinois, Cooper Power in Macomb for 30 years and then for Walmart for 17 years. He was a member of the Macomb American Legion, Old Bedford Christian Church, A.F.L.C.I.O. #106. Charles was always busy, he loved working outdoors, mowing lawns, what ever he could find. He was also a Nascar fan and loved to watch the races.
Graveside services with military rights by the Macomb VFW and the Macomb American Legion will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at St. Mary’s Cemetery, in Colmar, Il., with the Rev. Jim Clayton. Friends may view and sign the register book at the Jones Mortuary, in Colchester, Il., Tuesday, November, 24, 2020 from 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM. Memorial is to Colchester Area Relief Center.
