Carol Jean (Bennett) Beck

Carol Jean Beck 87 of Macomb passed away Friday, August 8, 2025, at Goldwater Care in Roseville, Illinois.  She was born May 20, 1938, in Keokuk, Iowa to John E. and Margaret H. Wildman Bennett.  Carol was united in marriage in Quincy, Illinois on September 30, 1960, to Melvin Beck.  He preceded her in death December 24, 1996.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, and 1 sister, Beverly Schmidt.

  Carol is survived by 3 step daughters: Lana (Billy) Walker, Mission Viejo, California, Jeri (Sam) Harper, Macomb,Illinois, Tammy (Dan) Beck Washington, Menifee, California, 6 step grandchildren: Kara, Brenna, Shalee, Jenna, Blaine, Tara, 11 step great grandchildren: Riley, Parker, Harper, Hudson, Taylor, Sam, Liam, Avery, Behr, Phoenix, Jett, and 1 sister,  Joyce Pappas.

  Carol and Melvin had owned and operated Beck’s Snack Bar in Colchester for many years.  She then worked at the Macomb Maid-Rite, and retired from the YMCA Senior Center Meals on Wheels program.  Carol loved animals especially her two dogs, Bobo and Mickey.

  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Graveside service will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 18, 2025, at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester.  Memorial is to Compassus Hospice or Goldwater Care Center.  Jones Funeral Chapel in Colchester is handling arrangements.  Condolences and memories can be expressed to the family at jonesmortuaryfh.com.
