Caralee Jane (Jefferson) McGinnis

Caralee Jane (Jefferson) McGinnis age 76 of Carthage, Illinois, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023, at her home in Carthage.  She was born August 4, 1946 in Macomb, to Thomas Hoyt and Elva F. Cuba Jefferson.  Caralee was united in marriage October 28, 1978 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.

Surviving to mourn her passing is her husband of 46 years Bill McGinnis, Carthage, 1 son: Dan (Mary) McGinnis, Brunswick, Georgia, 4 grandchildren: Logan Alex Prehm, Liberty Grace Sanders, Miles Sanders, McKenna Sanders, and 1 brother: David (Colleen) Jefferson, Grundy Center, Iowa.

Caralee was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter: Molly Kristine Sanders, and 1 sister: Anita Ruth Jefferson.

Caralee was an avid quilter, and seamstress.  She enjoyed gardening, taking care of her flowers, playing the piano and she loved the time she spent driving the school bus.  Most of all Caralee loved her family and loved taking care of her home and family.

Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 10, 2023, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester, with Rev. Jim Clayton.  Burial will follow the services at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester.  Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 9, 2023.  Friends may view and sign the register book a the funeral home from 8:30 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.
