Betty Lou Grim, 78, passed away peacefully at her home in Canton, IL on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. Betty was born in McDonough County, IL on April 26, 1944 to Clarence and Ethel Neuneker. Betty married Bob Grim in June 3,1979, and he preceded her in death on June 24, 2004.
Betty is survived by her son and daughter in law, Kevin and Krista Groenewold of Industry, IL, and her grandchildren, Nolan & Jacqui Groenewold of Springfield, IL, and Madeline Groenewold of Macomb, IL. She is also survived by five siblings: James Neuneker, Frances Moats, Leona Bedwell, and Minnie Boden of Canton, IL, and Georgia Myers of Colchester, IL. In addition to her parents and her husband, Betty was preceded in death by eight siblings: Bucky, Buddy, Voyd, Robert, Charles, Paul, Barbara, and Rozella.
A quiet, gentle soul, Betty took her greatest joys from life’s simplest offerings. She loved to fish, and caught a few fish over the years that were nearly as big as she was. She was also an avid gardener and lovingly canned vegetables in preparation for a year’s worth of family meals. Betty never refused the offer of a cup of coffee, especially if the offer included a visit with a friend. Betty loved children; each winter, she made sure neighborhood kids knew they could sled down the big hill in her backyard. She loved to care for others, and nothing in the world made her as happy as time spent with her family, her love for them was boundless. To be known by Betty was to be loved–quietly, gently, and steadfastly–by Betty.
Betty now rests in the arms of the Lord she served all her life. Well done, good and faithful servant.
