Betty E. Shelley, age 93 of Kahoka, Missouri, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021, at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka Missouri, She was born December 7, 1927 in Plymouth, Illinois, to Clarence and Ruth Boozel Raymond. Betty was united in marriage February 2, 1946, in Colchester to Joseph Wendell Shelley, he preceded her in death, October 21, 1996.
Surviving to mourn her passing are 1 daughter: Pat (Marchal) Roberts, Kahoka, 3 grandsons: Daniel (Denise) Field, Wichita Falls, Texas, Jarrod (Kasey) Field, Springfield, Missouri, Kris (April) Roberts, Middletown, Ohio, 8 grandchildren: Taylor and Garrett Field, Mikaila, Shyanne, Elijah Field, Michael, Timmy, Jade Roberts, 1 sister: Lois Howlett, St. Ann Missouri, and several nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Wendell, 3 brothers and 4 sister in laws: Richard and Lorraine Raymond, Gene and Norma Jean Raymond, Edgar and Louise Raymond, Donnabel Degarmo, 1 nephew: Michael Raymond.
Betty was a longtime member of the Bethel Baptist Church in rural Fandon, Illinois, She retired as a secretary for the McDonough County Highway Department. She was an avid gardener having 2 gardens one in Colchester and one in Fandon every year. She enjoyed Quilting, Jigsaw puzzles, Find a word puzzles, and flowers. The family would like to express a special thank you to Merlin and Charlotte Dorethy and Betty’s close friends in the area that helped her after the passing of Wendell. They would also like to thank Judy Boyer for helping Betty after she moved to Kahoka and being a very good friend. Betty’s family was the most important thing in her life and she loved every moment that she got to spend with them, and no family meal would be complete with out Betty’s famous Marshmallow salad.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Pastor Jim Richardson, burial will follow the services at Bethel Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Funeral home. Memorials are to Hospice of Northeast Missouri, or Bethel Baptist Church.
