Arlene Kemble Obituary

Arlene Mae Kemble age 97 of Colchester, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Wesley Village Health Care in Macomb. She was born November 8, 1926, in Machias Port, Maine, to Sadie (Pettigrew) and John Libby. Arlene was united in marriage on September 8, 1946 in Rushville to Jack Kemble, he preceded her in death in 1972.

Surviving to mourn her passing is her brother Vance Libby, Hartford Connecticut. 1 son Rick (Lynn Bartlett) Kemble, Colchester. 2 grandchildren: Spencer (Courtney) Kemble, Colchester, and Trisha Kemble, Colchester. 3 great grandchildren: Roma Bride Kemble, Callum Kemble, Colchester and Layla Kemble.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her 3 brothers, John Jr. Libby, Kendall Libby, and Carroll Libby.

Arlene attended Machias Port Grade School through eighth grade. She then attended South Portland High School. Arlene graduated in 1944. Shortly after she graduated she married Jack Kemble on September 8, 1946. The couple met through mutual friends when Jack’s military ship came in for repairs. Arlene worked at the Civil Service Office as a clerk typist. She began working at Memorial Hospital in Carthage Illinois in 1961. For five years she worked as a nurses aide. She then took a year off and came back in 1967 and worked as a secretary. In 1967 Arlene and Jack traveled to Hawaii. She also enjoyed traveling to Maine to visit her parents. Arlene enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She is a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star. Arlene is also a 50 year member of the VFW Auxiliary in Augusta, Illinois. She loved eating vegetables as well as ice cream, her favorite color was green and she took interest in watching Reba on the television. Arlene’s personal motto was “Treat others the way you would like to be treated.” Arlene’s family was the most valuable thing in her life, they helped shape the happy and fun person she was.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, June 10, 2024 at Harmony Cemetery with Chaplain Lyren Haney. Friends may view and sign the register book at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Monday.  Memorial is to Wesley Health Care.
