Ardella J. (Clark) Hodges

Ardella J. Hodges age 91 of Colchester, passed away with her girls at her side, on Friday, March 31, 2023, at the Elms Nursing Home in Macomb.  She was born September 21, 1931 in Tennessee, Illinois to Wilbur and Dora Rigg Clark.  She was united in marriage on January 30, 1949 in Colchester to Rex Hodges.  He preceded her in death July 19, 2004.

Surviving to mourn her passing are 2 daughters: Janet (Larry Weaver) Erbsen, Colchester, Melissa (Brad) Herron, Colchester, 8 grandchildren: Tammy Erbsen, Aaron Erbsen, Becky (Doug) Morris, Jennifer (Ronnie) Smith, Mike (Michelle) Smith, Austin Herron, Cole (Kaylee Agans) Herron, Clay (Laci Gronewold) Herron, 6 great grandchildren: Lee (Betty) Smith, Steven (Haley) Chaney, Rylan Hynek, Emileigh (Jason) Grim, Aiden and Mia Morris, Ivy Smith, 6 great great grandchildren: Payten Smith, Brysen Smith, Kaylee Smith, Jordyn Smith, Dixie Ray Grim.

Ardella was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 son: Kevin Hodges, 1 daughter and son in law: Debby and Kent Smith, and 1 brother: Delbert Clark.

Ardella was a farmers wife, she helped Rex tend to the livestock and the family farm along with caring for the garden and canning all that was harvested from the garden.  She had been a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and served as president of PTA when her kids were in school.  Ardella loved that she got to share her birthday with two of her grandsons Mike Smith and Clay Herron.  She loved the Sundays and Holidays that she had her family gather around the dinner table, for the meal that she had prepared.  Ardella loved all of her family and enjoyed every moment that she spent with them.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 6, 2023, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Doug Clark officiating.  Burial will follow the services at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester.  Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Friends may view and sign the register book a the funeral home from 8:30 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.
