Ann Taylor Obituary

Ann Weber Taylor, 87, of Colchester, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Bickford Assisted Living in Macomb. She was born on January 17, 1937, in Olney, Illinois, to Bernard and Louise Weber. She was united in marriage to James B. Taylor, Sr. on August 30, 1956. He preceded her in death on February 14, 2008.

Ann was dearly loved by her children Phillip Taylor, and wife Mindy, of Newton, IL; Daniel Taylor, and partner Tony Archer, of Tallahassee, FL; Joanie Herbert, and husband Frank, of Macomb, IL, her 9 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two of her children, sons Richard Taylor, and James B. Taylor, Jr., and his wife, Karen.

Ann was a member of the First Presbyterian Churches of Macomb and Newton, IL, where, for decades, she was the gifted and dedicated organist. For many years, she and her husband, Jim, were members of the Olney Municipal Band, where Ann played principal flute. They instilled their lifelong study and love of music in their children and grandchildren. Ann was a voracious reader of books, knitter of blankets, writer of extraordinary letters, and crocheter of even more extraordinary snowflakes - all of which she gave away selflessly, and joyfully. She was kind beyond measure, equally funny and clever, and never failed to ruin a joke by telling the punchline first. She was endlessly delighted by nature, birds, bugs, snow, rocks, fossils and trees, and surrounded herself with the things that brought her joy: her beloved "junk" (antiques); books; family, and her cat, Rudy.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Jones Mortuary in Colchester will host a Day of Calling on Thursday, August 15, from 8:30am-6pm, with local family being present from 4-6pm. Graveside services will be at 11am on Saturday, August 17, at Haven Hill Cemetery, in Olney, IL, followed by a picnic and Celebration of Life in the Olney City Park, from 12-4pm. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the First Presbyterian Church of Macomb Organ Fund.
