Anita L. Bennett age 74 of Colchester, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois. She was born February 11, 1942, in Ecorse, Michigan, to Carl L. and Hazel Ellen McQueen Miller. Anita was united in marriage on May 12, 1967, in Bowen, Illinois to Stephen A. Bennett.
Surviving to mourn her passing are her Husband of 49 years; Stephen Bennett, Colchester, Illinois, 3 Sons; Evan L. (Jennifer) Bennett, Burlington, Iowa, Eric G. (Tammy) Bennett, Alexis, Illinois, Stephen M. (Christina) Bennett, Lafayette, Indiana, 4 Granddaughters and 4 Grandsons, 3 Brothers: Daniel C. (Kay) Miller, Knoxville, Illinois, Carl A. (Kathy) Miller, Galesburg, Illinois, Alan E. (Joanne) Miller, Maricopa, Arizona, 2 Sisters: Claudia C. Eskridge, Alpha, Illinois Marilee (Bill) DeVena, Cameron, Illinois, 1 Brother-In-Law: James V. Bennett, and 1 Sister-In-Law; Jenny Christine (Jack) Schoeninger.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, 1 Granddaughter; Chloe Alexis Bennett, 1 Nephew; Fred V. Eskridge, and 1 Sister-In-Law; Janice Bennett.
Anita was a member of the Colchester United Methodist Church, She had worked at Western Illinois University in the Department of Guidance and Counseling, Secretary for the Superintendent of Schools with Colchester Unit 180, and last worked and retired from Western Illinois University Registrar’s office. Anita loved sitting down and reading a good book, Her Faith in the Lord was very strong and she lived her life according to her faith. Anita's faith was evident by how generously she loved and served her family, friends and those in need. She was truly and greatly loved and she truly loved greatly.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 6, 2017, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Rev. Mark Smith. Burial will follow the services at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester. Family visitation will be1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Jones Mortuary. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home from 9:00 A.M. till 4:00 P.M. Sunday, then after 8:00 A.M. Monday till time of services. Memorial is to the Colchester United Methodist Church. Online Condolences may be expressed to the family at jonesmortuaryfh.com
